Multi-agency Public Safety Exercise on the UGA Campus (Photo Gallery)
(Jan 16, 2008 - 10:32:48 AM)On Dec. 20, 2007 the University of Georgia, in collaboration with local hospitals and first responders, conducted a multi-agency public safey exercise that simulated a large mass casualty emergency. The goal of the simulated emergency exercise was to better prepare first responders in case of an actual campus emergency. Participating agencies in the exercise included the University of Georgia Police Department, the University of Georgia Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness,the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, the Athens-Clarke County Fire and Emergency Services, St. mary's Hospital, Athens Regional Medical Center, the American Red Cross and the Oconee County Emergency Management Agensy.The exercise featured enactments of a natural explosion in a residence hall and a bus hostage situation.
