John Newton, Emergency Operations Coordinator with the Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness, was a finalist for the "Newcomer Award".

The Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness participated in the Auxiliary and Administrative Services Campus Services Fair held on May 14, 2008 at the East Village Commons.  Participants in the  "New to F&A Day" program, along with many UGA faculty, staff and students, learned about the many services offered by Finance and Administration units.

On Dec. 20, 2007 the University of Georgia, in collaboration with local hospitals and first responders, conducted a multi-agency public safey exercise that simulated a large mass casualty emergency.
