More than 1,700 organizations participate in the fourth annual Homeland Security National Preparedness Month. The Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness participates as a coalition member that shares preparedness information with the campus community.

During September, the UGA Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness (OSEP) will focus attention on steps students, faculty, and staff can take to better prepare for emergencies. In addition to a display at the East Village Dining Commons, OSEP will promote awareness through banners, flyers, and bus placards with a special emphasis on encouraging registration in UGAAlert, UGA's newest emergency notification system.

All-Ways Fire Safe at Home – Fire Safety Module
Fire Corps and the Home Safety Council (HSC) have partnered to develop a Fire Safety Module that can be used to implement a comprehensive fire and life safety public education program at the local level. Based on the HSC’s All-Ways Fire Safe at Home program, this module is comprised of four fire safety education programs that Fire Corps teams can use to promote fire and life safety to community members in different stages of life, including preschool, elementary school, middle school, and older adult. Fire Corps Fire Prevention Week Tips
October 7-13 marks Fire Prevention Week (FPW), and the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) and Fire Corps have teamed up to provide fire safety tips each day of the week to help keep your family, friends, and communities safer. These tips will be released the second week of October and will also be posted on the Fire Corps web site at www.firecorps.org. These tips can be shared with your Fire Corps teams, department staff, communities, and more.
