National Incident Management System (NIMS) Compliance and Training Options and Upcoming Training Classes

NIMS Training Classes offered in May

The Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness (OSEP) manages UGA's NIMS compliance and coordinates on-campus training sessions. All NIMS online training class certificates should be sent to OSEP for recordkeeping purposes.

Who should receive this training?

UGA personnel who directly respond to campus emergencies or those who directly or indirectly make incident management decisions regarding building or campus emergencies should participate in NIMS training. This includes Deans, Directors, Department Heads, Building Safety and Security Representatives (BSSRs) and others who are responsible for coordinating emergency planning, safety and security initiatives for campus buildings. Additionally, emergency response personnel and building services personnel should receive NIMS training.

Quarterly Training & Development Classes - The Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness will offer NIMS training through the UGA Training and Development (T&D) Department.


Other training class schedules and registration information will be posted on the OSEP's Web site (http://www.osep.uga.edu/) as information becomes available.)

May 2008 Classes offered at the UGA Training & Development Center:  

> IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS): An Introduction - This class is now full.  Additional classes will be scheduled for this summer. BSSRs wll be notified when summer class schedule becomes available.

> ICS-100 Introduction to Command - This Class is full. Additional Classes will be scheduled this summer. BSSRs will be notified when summer class schedule becomes available.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) - Online courses for ICS 100, ICS 200, IS 700 and IS 800 are available on the FEMA Emergency Management Institute Web site: http://www.fema.gov/emergency/nims/nims_training.shtm
