Campus Security Officer Certification Program Overview
(Sep 11, 2008 - 4:51:48 PM)
This new program is in development, so please check this site often for program details and updates.
The University of Georgia (UGA) utilizes the services of security personnel in several buildings and facilities on campus. These officers are not sworn law enforcement officers, do not carry weapons and do not have arrest powers; however, they are University employees and their jobs are very valuable to the University's overall safety and security mission.
The Campus Security Officer Certification Program is an enhancement to the current departmental orientation and training that officers receive by the departments and units who employ them. The goal of the Campus Security Officer Certification Program is to achieve 100% participation by all departments on campus who employ security personnel, but the security officer certification program is a voluntary program and is not required.
