Academic-Professional Security Series Lecture

Sean Kaufman, MPH, CHES, CPH – Bridging Gaps between Laboratory Emergency Plans and Outcomes

Friday, February 27 from noon – 2pm

Room H203, College of Veterinary Medicine

The speaker for this lecture is Mr. Sean Kaufman, Director of Programs at the Center for Public Health Preparedness and Research at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. Sean will be speaking about bridging the gap between laboratory emergency planning and outcomes – discussing how to get desired out comes from planning. Before taking this position with Emory, Sean worked at the CDC in the National Center for HIV/AIDS, STD, and Tuberculosis Prevention, the National Center for Infectious Diseases, and the Office of Terrorism Preparedness and Emergency Response. Sean served on the New Jersey Anthrax response team, Louisiana West Nile Virus communication team, and the Los Angeles Int'l Airport SARS quarantine team.

This past summer, Sean lead two large hands-on high containment training sessions at UGA hosted by OVPR, CVM and CAS. His leadership and dynamic education techniques made this 2 week course with over 100 people involved highly successful. You don't have to work with infectious agents or in high containment for this lecture to apply to your situation – this lecture will apply to all lab personnel, facilities and other support staff, animal care staff, administrators, and first responders…You will really enjoy this individual's presence and teaching skills so please attend this event.
